Getting Here

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in South Western Uganda at the border of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Getting There

By Road

Transport and access to the park is by road it covers 540 km starting the journey from Kampala with 8 hours. For one who uses the tour vehicles, there is a packing space and direct access to the park.

The Ntebeko Entrance Gate lies roughly 14km from Kisoro along a dirt road. Pending movements, the second is half of this route is slow and bumby and, until improvements are made, you should expect the journey to take about an hour. a 4X4 may be necessary after heavy rain. To get to Mgahinga from the national park’s office in Kisoro, follow the main road towards the main road towards the DRC for about 100m, turn left at the first main junction, immediately before the Travellers Rest Inn, then turn right about 100m further on. Follow the stone cairns up to Ntebeko.

If you don’t have a vehicle, the national park’s office in town will know whether any official vehicles are heading out to the entrance gate. You can also normally hire a private vehicle to take you there. The other option is to walk; it is quite a hilly road, but it shouldn’t take you much longer that three hours to get there.

There are also flight arrangements from Entebbe International air port to Kisoro as well as public transport from Kampala.
